OneBookPlus vs TrueCoach: the business side of coaching, in AUD

TrueCoach is excellent dedicated programming software, but it stops at the workout card. Australian PTs end up paying in USD, on a tier set by their active-client count, plus separate tools for bookings, invoicing, accounting and reviews. OneBookPlus brings session bookings, pack credits, GST invoicing, accounting and retention into one AUD-billed platform. Programming itself ships in the PT Workout Builder add-on, which is coming soon, so TrueCoach is still the tool that does that part today.

Key takeaways

5
  • TrueCoach is dedicated personal-training programming software, billed in USD on three tiers set by active-client count (up to 5, up to 20, up to 50), with no free plan and only a 14-day trial. The rates are in the at-a-glance card below, cited to truecoach.co/pricing. For an Australian coach those USD prices carry FX, and as your roster crosses 5, then 20 active clients you step up a tier.
  • OneBookPlus is Australian-owned and AUD-billed from $0/month (Free), $29/month (Starter), $49/month (Plus), or $69/month (Growth), no per-active-client ceiling, no FX, no lock-in contract, data hosted in AWS Sydney. PT Workout Builder is a dedicated coaching add-on coming soon.

  • TrueCoach handles the programming today and OneBookPlus does not. The exercise library, daily workout cards, RM load prescription, RPE targets and progression rules ship in the PT Workout Builder add-on, which is not released yet. What OneBookPlus runs today is the business around the programming: bookings, pack credits, GST invoicing, BAS and accounting.
  • TrueCoach genuinely wins on: dedicated programming-software focus, native branded iOS/Android client apps in the App Store and Play Store, and an in-app messaging module its features page documents as in-app, multi-media, real-time and group messaging, a fit for remote-only coaches running daily check-in communities (OneBookPlus serves clients through a PWA web portal today).
  • OneBookPlus wins on the PLATFORM axis: it bundles what TrueCoach leaves to bolt-ons, integrated session bookings, pack credits with auto-deduction, GST invoicing + BAS-ready reporting + ABN on every receipt, built-in accounting/P&L, at-risk retention alerts, Google review automation, and AUD billing, with PT Workout Builder and a body-composition + PR tracker coming soon. TrueCoach is a deep point tool; OneBookPlus is the whole PT business in one app.

Where TrueCoach wins

Remote programming, and a real native client app

TrueCoach has built one thing: remote exercise programming. That focus is real. The program builder is fast, the exercise library is deep, and the client experience ships as a genuine native app on both iOS and Android, not a saved-to-home-screen web view. For a coach whose whole business is delivering daily programming and form-check feedback to a remote roster, with messaging and check-ins as the core loop, TrueCoach’s purpose-built focus and its in-app and group messaging are a tighter fit than a broad platform. If you don’t take in-person bookings, sell session packs, or issue GST invoices, you’re not using the business layer OneBookPlus is built around, and TrueCoach’s narrower scope is the point.

Where OneBookPlus wins

Programming, packs and billing in one tab

Bookings, packs and billing live on one client record, not in three other tabs. TrueCoach delivers the workout card; it has no in-person session booking and no concept of session billing on its features page. An Australian PT running 1-on-1 work bolts on Acuity for bookings and Xero for invoicing, then reconciles three systems. OneBookPlus puts the booking, the pack-credit deduction, and the GST invoice on the same client record. The program stays in your programming tool until the PT Workout Builder add-on is released.

AUD billing and no per-active-client tier ceiling. TrueCoach’s pricing page bills in USD and steps you up a tier as your active roster crosses 5, then 20, then 50 clients, and an Australian coach wears the exchange-rate movement every month. OneBookPlus bills in AUD with a free tier and no per-client ceiling, so a growth month doesn’t push your software bill up a bracket or expose you to FX.

GST/BAS, accounting and retention are inside the same app. TrueCoach’s public pages document client payments via Stripe but not GST-native invoicing with your ABN, a BAS-ready summary, a P&L, or an at-risk-member retention view. OneBookPlus ships all four: every casual session, pack sale and subscription rolls into a one-tap BAS summary, and the At-Risk Members tile surfaces clients who’ve gone quiet for 21+ days before they churn. That’s the difference between programming software and a business platform.

Six gaps a coaching business hits outside the program builder

Bookings and billing in one place

TrueCoach is excellent at programming but stops there, so you bolt on Acuity or Calendly for bookings and something else again for invoices. OneBookPlus runs the booking, the pack credit and the GST invoice off one client record. When PT Workout Builder ships, the workout card joins that record too.

Pack credits, not just programs

TrueCoach has no concept of session billing, the workout card is delivered regardless of whether the client's prepaid 10-pack still has credits. OneBookPlus tracks pack balance, auto-deducts on completed sessions, and surfaces low-balance reminders before the credits run out.

GST, ABN and BAS native

TrueCoach's public pages document client billing through Stripe, but not ABN-printed receipts, automatic 10% GST, or a BAS-ready summary. OneBookPlus generates GST-compliant invoices with your ABN on every transaction, casual sessions, pack sales, monthly subscriptions, and the BAS summary is one tap.

Body-composition + PR sync

PT Workout Builder and Body Composition Tracker are both coming soon, and they are being built to share one client record: a deadlift PR logged against a program will update the PR record on the progress chart the client sees. Neither is released yet, so today TrueCoach captures PRs and OneBookPlus does not.

Retention alerts TrueCoach doesn't ship

The At-Risk Members tile on your OneBookPlus dashboard surfaces clients who haven't checked in for 21+ days, ordered by total visit count, your most loyal lapsers top the list. TrueCoach shows you their last-completed workout but not the lapse pattern across your full client base.

No FX risk, no separate tools

A TrueCoach subscription covers programming, so an Australian PT running in-person work usually pays for a booking tool, an accounting subscription and a review tool alongside it, in a mix of currencies. OneBookPlus bundles bookings, packs, GST invoicing and accounting from AUD $29/mo (Starter), with a PT Workout Builder add-on coming soon. AUD billing, no FX, no lock-in, no per-active-client tier ceiling.

OneBookPlus vs TrueCoach, your questions answered

How does OneBookPlus compare to TrueCoach for an Australian personal trainer?

They cover different halves of a PT business today. TrueCoach is dedicated programming software and that is where its depth sits: exercise library with form videos, daily workout cards, RM-based load prescription, RPE targets, client-side logging and progression rules, delivered through native iOS and Android client apps. OneBookPlus runs the business layer TrueCoach leaves to bolt-ons: integrated session bookings, pack credits with auto-deduction, GST invoicing, BAS-ready reporting and retention alerts, in one AUD-billed platform. Be aware of the gap in our favour and against us: a dedicated PT Workout Builder add-on is coming soon rather than shipped, so if programming depth is your whole job today, TrueCoach is the tool that does it now.

How does the cost of TrueCoach and OneBookPlus compare?

TrueCoach is billed in USD on three active-client tiers, listed once in the at-a-glance card above and cited to their pricing page; an Australian coach carries the exchange rate on top. The comparison that matters isn't the base rate though, it's the scope. TrueCoach covers programming, so a coach who also takes in-person bookings, sells session packs and issues GST invoices adds a booking tool, an accounting subscription and often a review tool alongside it. OneBookPlus bundles bookings, session pack credits, GST invoicing and accounting from AUD $0 (Free), $29 (Starter), $49 (Plus) or $69 (Growth), with the PT Workout Builder add-on coming soon, and bills in AUD so there's no FX line.

Does OneBookPlus support hybrid in-person + remote coaching?

The business side, yes; the programming side, not yet. Bookings, pack credits and the client record work the same way whether Monday is a session in your gym and Wednesday is a remote session in their garage: one contact, one history, one prepaid balance that draws down on a completed session either way, and one GST invoice at the end of it. The program itself is the part that is not built. Weekly progression rules, RM-based load prescription and client-side rep logging all arrive with the PT Workout Builder add-on, which is not released, so there is no actual-versus-prescribed view on your dashboard today. Coaches running hybrid clients keep writing programs in the tool they already use and run the booking, the credit and the invoice through OneBookPlus underneath.

Will my TrueCoach exercise library and programs transfer over?

Not today, and not by hand either. TrueCoach doesn't expose a program API, so there is no direct import, and OneBookPlus has nowhere to put a program yet: the exercise library and custom-move tooling arrive with the PT Workout Builder add-on, which is not released. Coaches who move the business side across keep writing programs where they write them now. What does come across is the client roster, as a CSV of names, emails and phones, and from day one those clients sit on bookings, pack credits and GST invoices in one place.

What does OneBookPlus offer that TrueCoach doesn't?

Several differentiating areas: (1) Integrated session bookings, when a client checks in for their session, their booking, client record and prepaid balance are already on screen; (2) Pack credits with auto-deduction, TrueCoach has no concept of session billing; (3) GST-native session billing, so the money side of coaching is not a second subscription; (4) GST invoicing, BAS reporting, accounting & P&L in the same platform; (5) At-risk member alerts surfacing clients who've gone quiet at 21 days; (6) Google review request automation; (7) AUD billing with no FX risk.

What does TrueCoach do better?

TrueCoach is dedicated programming software, and that focus shows if you run a tight-knit remote-only PT business with daily client check-ins. Its features page documents in-app, multi-media, real-time and group messaging for staying in touch with a remote roster, plus native iOS and Android client apps (OneBookPlus uses a responsive web portal that members save to their home screen as a PWA). If you run a remote-only programming business with heavy daily client messaging and don't need bookings, packs, GST, or BAS in the same tool, TrueCoach's standalone focus may still suit you.

Where TrueCoach is still the better choice

The honest answer: OneBookPlus is the right call for almost every Australian personal trainer running a mixed business (1-on-1 in-person + occasional online + admin). But there are two situations where TrueCoach is still worth paying USD for.

1. Pure remote programming with daily client check-in messaging

If your business is 100% remote programming with no in-person sessions, no bookings, no packs, and your daily workflow is heavy client messaging and form-check video review, TrueCoach’s standalone focus and the in-app, multi-media and group messaging documented on its features page are currently a tighter fit. The trade-off is you’re paying USD for one slice of a business when the other slices (invoicing, GST, BAS) still need a separate tool, but if your remote programming model genuinely doesn’t touch those slices, TrueCoach’s purpose-built focus is real.

2. Native iOS / Android client apps

TrueCoach ships native iOS and Android apps in the App Store and Play Store with your branding (on higher tiers). OneBookPlus delivers the client experience through a responsive web portal saved to the home screen as a PWA, which covers the great majority of use cases but doesn’t put your name in the app stores. Native branded apps are on the OneBookPlus roadmap; if app-store presence is non-negotiable for your brand, TrueCoach currently wins this point.

In short: if programming depth is the whole job today, TrueCoach is the tool that does it and OneBookPlus is not a replacement yet. For an Australian PT running a mix of in-person and online sessions, who issues invoices and needs to track BAS, OneBookPlus runs that half now in AUD with no FX, and PT Workout Builder is coming for the other half. For pure-remote programming-only specialists or PTs with non-negotiable native-app branding, TrueCoach’s focus may still be the better tool.

How OneBookPlus runs a personal-training business end to end

With TrueCoach, the workout card is the whole product: you write the program, the client logs it, you review form videos and message back. Everything around that (taking the booking, selling the pack, issuing the invoice, tracking the GST) happens in other tools. OneBookPlus keeps the programming you already know and wraps the business around it. A new client books a session through your OneBookPlus booking page, which creates their contact record and their first session in one step, with no re-keying into a separate calendar.

When PT Workout Builder ships, you will build their program in it: a 400+ exercise library, custom moves with your own form videos, RM-based load prescription and RPE targets, the same primitives a TrueCoach coach uses. It is not released yet, so today the program stays in whatever tool you already write it in. What OneBookPlus does today is everything around it: when the client checks in for Monday’s session, the booking, the client record and the prepaid balance are already on screen, and completing the session auto-deducts a credit from their prepaid 10-pack. There’s no separate “did they pay?” lookup: the pack balance and low-balance reminder live on the same client record.

When you invoice (a casual session, a pack top-up, a monthly subscription), OneBookPlus issues a GST-compliant invoice with your ABN printed on it and 10% GST applied automatically. Every one of those transactions rolls into your built-in accounting: a live P&L, categorised expenses, and a quarterly BAS summary showing GST collected and GST paid, ready for the ATO portal or your accountant. Nothing has to be exported to Xero first, and there is no reconciliation between a programming tool and an accounting tool, because the money side is already one system.

After the work is done, the same platform helps you keep the client: the At-Risk Members tile flags anyone who’s gone quiet for 21+ days, and a Google review request goes out automatically once a milestone session is complete. Measurement and PR tracking is not part of that yet. Workout Builder and Body Composition Tracker are being built to share one client record, so a deadlift PR logged against a program will update the progress chart the client sees, and neither add-on is released, which means today TrueCoach captures PRs and OneBookPlus does not. Retention surfacing and review collection are the two TrueCoach leaves to other tools and OneBookPlus already treats as part of the same client relationship.

Three places OneBookPlus pulls ahead for PTs

Session bookings wired to the money, not to a second calendar

TrueCoach delivers programming but doesn’t take in-person bookings. Coaches bolt on Acuity or Calendly and live with the gap between “who’s booked in” and “who has paid.” OneBookPlus gives every trainer a shareable booking page synced to their availability; when a client books and checks in, the client record and the prepaid balance are already on screen, the session is logged, and a pack credit is deducted, one continuous flow instead of three apps. The program itself still lives in your programming tool until the PT Workout Builder add-on is released.

GST invoicing and BAS without a second subscription

TrueCoach’s built-in billing runs through Stripe but its public pages don’t document Australian GST-native invoices, ABN-printed receipts, or a BAS-ready summary. OneBookPlus applies 10% GST automatically, prints your ABN on every receipt, and produces a one-tap quarterly BAS summary from your sessions, pack sales and subscriptions, so you don’t pay for and reconcile a separate Xero subscription just to satisfy the ATO.

Retention and review automation built in

TrueCoach shows you a client’s last completed workout, but not the lapse pattern across your whole roster. The OneBookPlus At-Risk Members tile surfaces clients who haven’t checked in for 21+ days, ranked by total visits so your most loyal lapsers top the list, the people worth a personal text before they churn. After a milestone session, OneBookPlus can also send an automatic Google review request with a direct link, turning happy clients into the 5-star reviews that win the next one.

Who should switch from TrueCoach to OneBookPlus

PTs running in-person or hybrid sessions, not pure remote.

If clients walk into your gym or you mix in-person with online, you need bookings and pack credits TrueCoach doesn’t offer. OneBookPlus keeps the same programming and adds the booking, the pack deduction and the GST invoice on one client record.

Australian trainers tired of USD bills and FX.

TrueCoach bills in USD and steps up a tier as your roster grows past 5, then 20 active clients. OneBookPlus bills in AUD from a free tier with no per-client ceiling, so your software cost stops moving with the exchange rate.

Coaches who want to stop running four tools.

If you currently stitch TrueCoach to a booking app, Xero and a review tool, OneBookPlus collapses all four into one AUD-billed platform with programming, bookings, GST/BAS and retention in the same place: one source of truth, one bill.

When TrueCoach might still be the better fit:

If you run a 100% remote programming business with no in-person bookings, no session packs and no GST invoicing (where daily client messaging, form-check video review and a tight cohort community are the whole job), TrueCoach’s purpose-built depth and its native branded iOS/Android apps in the stores are a genuinely tighter fit. See the section above for the two cases where its narrower focus wins.

How to switch from TrueCoach to OneBookPlus

1

Bring your client roster across, leave your programs where they are

Export your client list from TrueCoach as a CSV and import it into OneBookPlus: names, emails and phones map across. Keep writing your programs where you write them now. TrueCoach doesn’t expose a program API, and OneBookPlus has no programming surface to import them into until the PT Workout Builder add-on is released, so plan this move as the business side coming across and the programming staying put.

2

Set up bookings, packs, GST and your ABN

Configure the session types and prices TrueCoach never tracked: your booking page, your 5/10-session packs, casual rates and monthly subscriptions. Add your ABN, switch GST on, and set payment terms (about 15 minutes) so every invoice going forward is GST-compliant and BAS-ready instead of a plain Stripe charge.

3

Move new programs over, wind TrueCoach down

Start assigning new program blocks in OneBookPlus while leaving the current TrueCoach cycle to finish out, with no need to migrate historical logs mid-block. Most coaches run both for a few weeks, then cancel TrueCoach before the next USD renewal once clients are comfortable logging in the new portal.

Keep the programming.
Run the whole PT business from one app.

Programming, session bookings, pack credits, GST invoicing and retention in one place. AUD-billed, no FX.

Free plan available, no card needed. Billed in AUD.
