They book their first session, Wednesday 5pm Maths Extension 1, for instance, and fill in a short enrolment form capturing the student's school, year level, current grade, target ATAR, parent contact and any access-needs notes. The session lands in your calendar and the parent gets a confirmation email with what to bring and where to meet. Turning that into a standing weekly slot is your call, made from the dashboard, and from there it rolls forward until end of term without being re-entered. Families book and reschedule individual sessions themselves; the repeating slot stays under your control. The Free plan carries one repeating student, so the second standing slot is where a tutor moves to Starter at $29/mo; extending a slot you already have costs nothing on any plan, and one-off sessions are never capped.

Session-Pack Billing & Casual Top-Ups

Most successful tutoring businesses run on packs, typically 5 or 10 sessions sold up front. OneBookPlus generates the pack invoice with your ABN, your bank/Stripe payment options, the session count and the GST line (if you're registered). The parent pays once and the pack credits draw down automatically each time you teach a session. When a student gets to their last one or two credits, the system flags it so you can fire the next pack's invoice, no awkward "hey it's been a while since you paid" messages. For casual one-off sessions (common during exam blocks where students need extra), a single-session invoice goes out as soon as the session completes.

Parent Communication & Rescheduling

Parents drive most of the comms in tutoring, and most of those messages are about rescheduling. OneBookPlus handles this through the family portal. The parent sees your open availability, picks an alternative slot within your cancellation policy window, and the change happens without you needing to text back and forth. Automated reminders go out the day before and an hour before each session, sent to both the parent and the student. Each student has a profile that captures their full tutoring history. Term Reporting & GST

At the end of each term, OneBookPlus shows you the picture: revenue, sessions taught, attendance rate, no-show count, active student count and your top-revenue subjects. If your turnover is climbing toward the $75k GST threshold, the dashboard surfaces it so you can plan for registration before you cross. If you're already GST-registered, your BAS summary is complete, every invoice has its GST line tagged correctly, expenses are categorised against the right ATO code, and quarterly lodgement becomes a five-minute task instead of a weekend.
