This is the client side of an online payment. If you are setting Stripe up in the first place, start with connecting Stripe for online payments.
What they get
You send the invoice. Your client opens it from the email link and sees your invoice with a Pay Now button on it.
Clicking it takes them to a secure Stripe checkout page. They can pay with:
- A credit card, Visa, Mastercard or Amex
- A debit card
- Apple Pay or Google Pay, on a device that supports it
They do not need an account with us or with Stripe, and they do not have to sign in to anything.
What happens the moment they pay
- Stripe processes the card
- The invoice is marked Paid in your account
- A payment record is created against it
- The funds land in your Stripe balance and are paid out to your bank, typically within a couple of business days
You do not have to reconcile it by hand, and you do not have to remember to mark it paid.
The fees
Two fees come out before the money reaches you.
Stripe charges its own per-transaction fee, published on Stripe's Australian pricing page. We do not restate it here, because it changes and a stale number in a help article is worse than no number.
OneBookPlus charges a platform fee of up to 2.5 per cent on online card payments, on top of Stripe's. The current rate for your account is shown on the billing page under card payment fees.
Paying in person is different
Taking a card at a counter is not available yet. Every card payment described here is an online one through the Pay Now button. If you take a card in person on your own EFTPOS terminal, record it against the invoice afterwards.
If a client says the button is missing
Card payments have to be switched on for the invoice to carry the button. Check Settings, then Card Payments, and that Stripe shows as connected.
