OneBookPlus vs Rounded:
when solo invoicing isn’t enough

It depends on what you need. Rounded is a genuinely good, purpose-built tool for Australian sole traders and freelancers who want clean invoicing, expense tracking, time/project logging, and tax-ready BAS reports, and nothing more. If that's all you need and you're a solo operator, Rounded is excellent and affordable (A$23.95 to A$29.95/month). OneBookPlus does the same invoicing, quoting, expenses and GST work, but adds online bookings, a real CRM, a job-to-invoice pipeline, email marketing, POS, and an AI Companion, and starts on a $0 free plan. If your business is growing past "just me sending invoices", you take bookings, run jobs, or want one customer record across the whole business, OneBookPlus fits better. For a pure freelance invoicing tool, Rounded is a strong, focused choice.

Rounded has two plans: Starter at A$23.95/month and Pro at A$29.95/month (see rounded.com.au/pricing). Both come with a 14-day free trial and unlimited invoices, quotes and clients. Note that GST tracking, pre-filled BAS, bank feeds, super tracking and AI expense categorisation are Pro-tier features, if you're GST-registered you'll be on the A$29.95 plan. OneBookPlus starts on a $0/month free plan (10 invoices/month, 250 contacts) and includes GST and BAS-ready reporting from the start, with paid plans at $29 (Starter), $49 (Plus) and $69 (Growth) per month that also bundle bookings, CRM, jobs, marketing and POS. So Rounded is cheaper for a focused freelance invoicing setup; OneBookPlus replaces more tools in one subscription as you grow. The AI Receptionist is a $79/mo add-on and it needs the AI Companion ($25/mo, included free on Growth), so budget about $104 a month on top of your plan, or $79/mo on Growth. Neither product charges per seat below its cap; what our plans band is logins: Each plan includes a set number of logins, one login on Free, three on Starter, five on Plus and ten on Growth, and below the cap there is no per-seat charge at all. On Growth an extra login is $9/mo, added to the same invoice, so an eleventh person costs $9 and not a new plan. Staff you roster and book but who never sign in (instructors, carers, cleaners, stylists) are free and unlimited on every plan.

Yes. OneBookPlus automatically calculates 10% GST on invoices and quotes, validates ABNs via the Australian Business Register, tracks GST collected and paid, and generates ATO-ready BAS summaries. Like Rounded, it's built for the Australian tax system from the ground up rather than retrofitted from a US product. One difference worth knowing: in OneBookPlus, GST and BAS-ready reporting are available from the free plan, whereas in Rounded the GST and pre-filled BAS features sit on the Pro tier (rounded.com.au/pricing).

A few things, and we'll be straight about them. Rounded offers multi-currency invoicing, which OneBookPlus does not yet (we're single-AUD today). Rounded also gives your accountant free portal access into your live data, which is a lovely touch for solo operators handing work to a bookkeeper. OneBookPlus handles this through CSV export and export to Xero/MYOB rather than a live advisor portal. And Rounded's whole product is laser-focused on the solo freelancer workflow, so there's less to learn if you never plan to take bookings, run jobs, or build a team. If those points describe you, Rounded may be the better fit.

Because Rounded deliberately stops at invoicing, expenses and tax, it has no online booking page, no CRM with a client timeline, no quote-to-job field pipeline, no email marketing, no review requests and no POS (rounded.com.au/features). The moment your business needs to take bookings, manage jobs on site, market to past customers, or run a till, you start bolting separate tools onto Rounded, a Calendly, a CRM, a Mailchimp, a Square. OneBookPlus carries one customer record from the first booking through the quote, the job, the GST invoice and the BAS line, so you replace several subscriptions with one. That's the switch trigger: outgrowing solo invoicing.

Yes. OneBookPlus imports your client list via CSV during onboarding, so you keep your contacts without re-typing them. Your historical invoices can stay in Rounded as a record for your accountant while new invoices, quotes and bookings happen in OneBookPlus. Expenses and supplier bills go in directly, or you photograph the receipt and let the scanner read the supplier, date, GST and total off it. You can export your own OneBookPlus data at any time, so you're never locked in.

Both are Australian-built and GST/BAS-native, so the tax basics are comparable. The difference is scope: Rounded focuses on freelancer invoicing, expenses and tax, while OneBookPlus adds online bookings, a full CRM, a job pipeline, email marketing, review requests, POS and an AI Companion, all in one app with a $0 free plan. If you only ever send invoices as a sole trader, Rounded is a fine, cheaper choice; if you're building something bigger, OneBookPlus covers the parts of the business Rounded deliberately leaves out.

Partly. Rounded ships native apps for both iOS and Android (rounded.com.au/features). OneBookPlus has a native iOS app; on Android you use the web app in your browser, which covers invoicing, quotes, bookings and the CRM but is not a native install. If a native Android app is a hard requirement for you today, that is a genuine point in Rounded's favour.
