There is no national occupational licence for cleaning. Some settings impose requirements anyway: police checks for schools and aged care, working with children checks where relevant, and contractor induction systems on corporate sites. Insurance and documented training are the practical markers of a professional operator.

Both models exist. One-off and small jobs are usually hourly, around $35 to $60 per cleaner, while recurring work is normally a fixed weekly or monthly contract calculated from floor area, fixtures and frequency. Fixed contracts give budget certainty; just make sure the written scope matches your expectations.

Most offices choose after-hours cleaning so bathrooms, desks and floors are done without disrupting staff, though it means trusting the provider with access. Daytime cleaning suits sites with security constraints and can cost less in buildings that charge for after-hours access. Many businesses run a mix of both.

Strip and seal removes the worn polish layer from vinyl or linoleum floors and applies fresh sealer, restoring shine and protecting the surface. Most commercial floors need it every 6 to 18 months depending on traffic, at roughly $4 to $8 per square metre. Regular burnishing between seals extends the interval.

Check your current contract's notice period, commonly 30 days, line up the new provider with a site walk-through and written scope, and hand over keys, alarms and inductions before the change date. A good incoming cleaner will often start with a deep clean so they begin from a standard they can maintain.
