GST and BAS Reports

View your quarterly GST summary and prepare your Business Activity Statement for the ATO.

OneBookPlus automatically tracks GST on your invoices and expenses so you can prepare your BAS with confidence.

Understanding GST in OneBookPlus

  • When you create an invoice, GST is calculated at 10% (inclusive or exclusive)
  • When you record an expense, you can mark it as taxable and enter the GST amount
  • The accounting dashboard shows GST Collected (from invoices) vs GST Paid (from expenses)

BAS Report

Go to Accounting, then GST / Tax to see:

  • Quarterly periods aligned to the Australian financial year:
    • Q1: July to September
    • Q2: October to December
    • Q3: January to March
    • Q4: April to June
  • GST collected on sales
  • GST paid on purchases
  • Net GST payable or refundable

ATO Tax Lodgement

The ATO Tax Lodgement app is listed in the App Marketplace and is not open for install yet. Direct ATO e-lodgement via SBR is in final ATO certification, prepare and validate BAS and returns today; we'll tell you the moment lodgement goes live on your account. What the app does for you today:

  • View BAS-ready tax summaries
  • Calculate PAYG and other obligations
  • Run the ATO validation rules over the form before you file it

Until lodgement is switched on, file the finished figures with the ATO the way you do now, or have your tax agent do it, then mark the BAS as lodged in OneBookPlus so your books match. Single Touch Payroll is separate: OneBookPlus does not lodge STP pay events to the ATO, so you still report each pay run through STP-enabled software. See the ATO Tax Lodgement app page for what is included.

Note: Always verify figures with your accountant before lodging. OneBookPlus provides the data, your accountant provides the advice.

Work the figure out first

If you want to check a GST amount before it goes on the BAS, the GST calculator does the inclusive and exclusive split on a single figure, and the BAS calculator works through a quarter.
